Teams will be divided as shown above. The Class A Football Points System will be used to seed the top eight teams in each division. Each team must mark off 2 games when calculating points, and the mark offs must maximum that team’s points. The higher seed team will be the host for each game. Matchups for the first round will be as follows: 8 at 1, 7 at 2, 6 at 3, and 5 at 4. Second games will pair the winner of 8 at 1 vs of 5 at 4 and the winner of 7 at 2 vs the winner of 6 at 3.

Since there is region unbalanced you can only count 2 Non- Class A games and cannot count more than one school per classification. Example: Play 2 4-A’s one will count as AAAA, the other will count as AAA.

Region champions will be seeded first, regardless of point total. The remaining teams will be seeded according to points.

Class A Football Playoff Format

The playoffs will be held on the Friday after Thanksgiving at Benedict College. The home team for each State Champinship game will be determined by a coin toss.

The Class A Football Committee (Class A president in charge) will meet the first Saturday morning after the last regular season football game at the SCHSL office. Time will be at 10:00 am unless changed by President of Class A. Only the committee and Class A officers will be allowed in the seeding meeting.

***If out of state teams and private schools are played, each school is responsible in getting a letter from that school SIGNED BY THAT SCHOOL’S PRINCIPAL with their school enrollment 9TH THROUGH 12 GRADE. You must have this by the time of the meeting to fill in the brackets.

If there is a tie in points between any number of teams for a seed, the following will be used as a tie breaker:

  1. If the tie exist between 2 teams only and those teams played during the season, the winner of the regular season game will receive the higher seed.
  2. One mark off game will be added to each team’s points total to break the tie, if the tie was between more than two teams the tie breaker procedure will be repeated starting with #1 to break the tie.
  3. If the tie is not broken by #2 then the last mark off game will be added to the tied team’s point total to break the tie, if the tie was between more than two teams the tie breaker procedure will be repeated starting with #1 to break any remaining ties.
  4. If the tie remains after #3, then total points allowed in ALL 10 regular season games will break the tie. If the tie was between more than two teams the tie breaker procedure will be repeated starting with #1 to break any remaining ties.
  5. If a tie remains after #4 then a coin toss will decide the higher seed.
