All Star Softball Selection Process (Seniors Only)

  1. The SCCAWS softball region representatives are chosen from softball coaches throughout the state.

  2. Each prospective representative is contacted by a SCCAWS executive board member, told what his/her responsibilities would be, and asked to serve in this capacity.  With a "yes" response, the SCCAWS board assumes this individual will do all responsibilities this job requires.

  3. Each softball coach in the state will received a form to nominate their player(s). They should return these nominations to their softball region representative.  Nominees must be a senior and quality should be stressed.  No more than two players from the same school may be selected as All Stars.  Each region may nominate as many players as there are softball teams within that region.

  4. Every region representative must meet the deadline for turning in these nomination to the SCCAWS softball chairperson, who will  place all names on a ballot.

  5. Softball All Star ballots will be mailed to each head softball coach (CAWS member) with a specific deadline for its return.  Coaches(CAWS members) may vote for up to 15 athletes from upper state only, lower state only or a combination of both.

  6. After the deadline, votes are tallied and the four All Stars from each classification with the highest number of votes will be on the All Star team.  The remaining eight All Star players will be chosen by the All Star coaches from the remaining names on the ballot.  This gives the coaches an opportunity to secure and adequate number of players at each position.

  7. Each All Star softball player will be contacted by S.C.A.C.A. through her high school coach.  If an ALL Star candidate should decline the All Star position, she is replaced by the next highest vote-getter in that particular classification or, if she is one chosen by the coaches, they select another player.

  8. All star players will be honored at the SCCAWS Softball Awards Ceremony and play in the North-South All Star Softball Game during the summer.

  9. The coaches are selected by the S.C.A.C.A. Board.
