Player of the Year Selection Process

  1. The SCCAWS Player of the Year Chairperson will appoint one coach from each girl's sport in each region to serve as the region representative for that sport.  SCCAWS members will be given the opportunity to volunteer to represent their region.

  2. The region representative will solicit nominations from each coach in his/her region.  The athletes nominated my be from any grade.  The coaches in the region will rank the region's All State nominations.  Each region's #1 ranked All State nomination will be on the ballot.  Only one athlete can be selected per region--ties must be broken, or non nomination will be accepted.

  3. Basketball nominations are done in the same manner through the SC Basketball Coaches Association.  These nominations are given to SCCAWS.

  4. Each representative must meet the deadline for turning in nominations to the SCCAWS Chairperson, who will place all nominations on a ballot.

  5. The Fall Sports ballot will include volleyball.  This ballot will be mailed in November.  The Winter and Spring Sports ballot will include basketball and softball.  This ballot will be mailed in May.

  6. Ballots will be sent to all SCCAWS members.  Each member may vote for one player from each classification (4A, 3A, 2A,1A) in each sport.

  7. The player from each classification in each sport who receives the most votes will be honored as Player of the Year.

  8. Tennis, cross country, swimming, golf, and track and field are based on the athlete's finish in the state finals.

  9. Soccer Player of the Year is divided into two categories: 4A and 3A, 2A, 1A combined.  All coaches of girls' soccer teams are sent nomination forms to nominate their own player or a player from another school.  The girls' soccer coaches are mailed a ballot.  The vote either in the combined 1A, 2A, 3A or the 4A category.

  10. The Cheer Coaches Association makes the selections for Cheerleaders of the Year.

  11. Each layer will be notified by the SCCAWS President through her high school coach.  Volleyball, tennis, swimming, golf, and cross country Players of the Year will be honored at the Volleyball All Star Match.  Basketball, softball, soccer, cheerleading, and track and field Players of the Year will be honored at the Softball All Star Games.
